My Adverts

final draft:
I have created 3 advertising campaigns to do with physical exercise. The adverts were aimed at both female and male teenagers and adults who enjoy participating in sports. My target audiences are in the B-E section from the demographics graph this is because the Product itself and the advertising would mainly be in western countries. I chose the medium of my adverts to be three print adverts that would be in advertised in popular magazines such as People, Vogue, Cosmopolitan, also on billboards around big cities such as New York, London, and Los Angeles. My adverts would be exhibited all year round, especially in the summer because that is when people are out more and wanting to buy new clothes and shoes.
The main real brand products I look at was Nike because they have similar target audiences and there adverts were also similar to what I wanted mine to look like. When my survey monkey results came in the main brand my target audience chose was Nike.
My adverts are all similar because I have used the same typography font and design in all three products. My designs are modern and dandy so they appeal to the target audience, which will attract the target audience. I have used black in all of my adverts as the background colour as this looks professional and neat. The glows around the models are all different colours so there is some difference in the posters, but also to catch the attention of the target audience.
My adverts use the appropriate codes and conventions and media language because I thought about the camera shots and mise-en-scene. I made sure I took photos for all of my adverts in the appropriate surroundings e.g. in the sports hall and on par track, I have done this so my advert would look more professional. Even though I have cut the backgrounds out of my adverts my models are wearing all the appropriate sporting apparel and footwear that I needed for my advert. I made sure that I thought about the type of picture I would take, for example I didn’t take landscape photos for my adverts because when you open a magazine you can look straight at a portrait photo without having to turn the page sideways, so people are less likely to flick straight past it. My first print ad shows front view of a teenage boy in the position of a track start. Then over the top of his arms I have drawn patterns over the top of the contours of his muscles. Around the model I have put a red outer glow, this makes the image stand out. Red connotes energy and is also though to enhance human metabolism, increase respiration rate. The second ad is a picture of a teenage girl shooting a netball; again I have drawn over the top of the image and put a blue glow around her. Blue is considered beneficial to the mind and body. Blue is associated with depth, expertise, and stability. My last ad is a photo of another teenage boy. On this ad I have edited to photos together, one picture is of him doing a lay up, and the other picture is of him in the air after doing a lay up again with drawing and an outer glow. As there are two images combined in this ad, I will use two outer glow colours, purple and pink. The colour purple is often associated with power and ambition. Green connotes energy, ambition and growth. I thought about the lighting of the scene, because I didn’t want it to be too bright or overexposed however I didn’t want it to be extremely dark. I wanted my adverts to look casual and modern and to represent all the stages in the sports participation pyramid.

I have used young healthy models to represent the target audience, also showing that my adverts are representing a healthy life style.
All adverts have the ASA codes of practice. My advert has followed these codes because they have not got anything graphic or naughty on them.
My strengths in this project were being able to take photos of my friends because they are all sporty so I used this to my advantage, also because I have other subjects that involve using the Mac’s I know to use them well and know how to navigate Photoshop so my skills in Photoshop really helped me a lot. If I had more time to do these adverts I would make sure my all my photos were in really good quality and probably try to recreate them in a studio so I have a clean and crisp background.
My favorite thing about my adverts is how the logo is block white and the letters have been cut out showing the background, at first I wasn’t sure how it would look but when it was on the poster I actually liked it, also because it showed through anything that was under the letters, I think this made it look quite modern. I have followed genre conventions and have followed all relevant copy right and legal requirements by using all of my own work and haven’t made any false or misleading claims.

A2 - storyboard and explination

The genre of my film is fantasy and sci-fi. Although the film is suitable for family viewing, the target audience for Ursula is aimed at teenage girls and women in their early 20s. Some of the scenes may be more scary for younger viewers, for example in my trailer shot no. 9, where she uses magic and does an evil laugh. This may scare young children.
My poster and storyboard are connected because they both show the same genre of film. The poster uses the same colour pallet and same font styles; they are both connected because I have used the same production company in both the trailer and storyboard. The poster and trailer will be shown on billboards (in the underground, on buses, in bus stops) before cinema shows, on social media, and magazines that interview the actors.

I chose Walt Disney Pictures, as my production company because it has a lot of recognition for fantasy films and they made the original ‘little mermaid’ so to have a new film come out involving the same characters, but twisted would entice the target audience to watch the film because they grew up watching the little mermaid.
i think that my poster and storyboard are effective so i wouldn't change anything.
